Brighter Futures Radiotherapy Appeal

brighter-futuresEvery month, around 300 people are given a diagnosis of cancer at the Great Western Hospital.  Many patients have to make the journey to Oxford, Bath or Cheltenham to receive life saving radiotherapy treatment. The Rotary Club of Devizes is therefore partnering with Dolcipani, the Italian Bakery and Coffee Shop in Devizes, to help change things so that those patients can receive treatment at a new Radiotherapy Centre in Swindon. While The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will build and run the new Centre, the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund (Brighter Futures) will equip it, and it is that equipment that our donations will help to buy. The appeal fund currently stands at at £1.4m of a £2.9m target.

This is a very personal appeal for both the Rotary Club of Devizes members who’ve been impacted in some way by the devastating effects of cancer, and for Giovanni (the owner of Dolcipani) who was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer in April 2015.
