The 20th Devizes CAMRA Beer Festival took part on Saturday 6th July, and once again Devizes Rotary were invited to provide hot food for the hungry festival goers. Over 20 Rotarians and friends were joined by members of Devizes Lions to serve over 500 burgers, 800 sausages, and four huge pans of chilli. Veggie burgers and a vegan chilli were also on offer, and this year plastic cutlery and polystyrene containers were replaced by recyclable and sustainable alternatives.
A great day was had by all, and we are delighted to say that our efforts raised just under £3,000 local charities.
Back in July the sun shone brightly on the crowds that assembled at the Devizes Wharf for the 19th Devizes Beer Festival, and Devizes Rotary were there once again to serve up some fantastic food to the visitors.
Below are a selection of ‘photos from the event.
Set-up and Queuing
The Devizes Rotary team once again set up their famous chili stall at the Devizes Beer Festival last Saturday, which was celebrating it’s sixteenth birthday. We again received many rave reviews from customers (thanks to Colin for his great recipe) so much so that a number of them came back for second helpings!
Snacks & Hot Dogs
This year we had a second stall, initially selling snacks such as pork scratchings and crisps, sometimes with a pickled egg thrown in for good measure! Then, later in the day, we took over from the Guides to sell foot long hot-dogs, with plenty of onions, ketchup and mustard of course.
