Cooking at the Bath Rugby Walk
Last Saturday Devizes Rotary, with the help of a couple of Devizes Lions, were again invited to cook at the Bath Rugby Walk, which as usual started at Dorothy House in Winsley, and ended at the Bath rugby ground. It was a great day for all concerned, and once again we donated all profits (almost £600) to Dorothy House and the Bath Rugby Foundation.
Here’s a note from Emily Knight, the organiser of the event:
Hi Cliff and the Rotary Club of Devizes dream team
Thank you SO much for all your help and hard work on Saturday providing the delicious food for the walkers and volunteers at the Bath Rugby Walk. As always, it was a complete pleasure to work the with professional, fun, kind, hardworking and totally fabulous Rotarians. You are a shining light for us all and show what camaraderie and delight can be gained by giving up your precious time to help others. Please can I clone you?!
In the end we had 545 people sign up to walk, with 506 actually walking on the day. Last year we raised over £56,000 from the event for the two charities and we’re hoping to match that again this year.
We couldn’t have made the day so successful without the legendary addition of the Rotary Club of Devizes, and on behalf of Dorothy House and the Bath Rugby Foundation we just wanted you to know…we love you!!!!
And finally…..volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.
