Lavington pupil wins top photographic prize
YOUNG photographer Sophie Vowles took first place in a competition organised by Devizes Rotary Club.
Sophie, who is a pupil at Lavington School, near Devizes took a series of three pictures that looked at everyday scenes from extreme angles and perspectives.
Alison Batchelor from the Rotary Club visited the school to present Sophie with a certificate for coming first in the Rotary Young Photographer competition. She went on to represent the town in a district competition where she received encouraging feedback despite not being placed.
She has had previous success in the Lawrence Society young artist competition and the Wiltshire Museum art contest.
The aim of the competition was to produce a portfolio of up to three photographs based upon the theme ‘A Different Perspective’.
Below are the entries received from each of the competitors. Many congratulations to them all!
