Devizes Area Young Chef Competition 2017-18 – Heat 2
Last Monday (30th October) the second heat of the Devizes Area Rotary Young Chef Competition 2017-18 took place at the Farm Cookery School near Bromham.
Four contestants again took part, namely Eliza Amer from Devizes School, and Sam Vowles, Harrison Damon and Sophie Moorehouse from Lavington school. Once again the standard of cooking was fantastic, and they all did their schools, teachers and family proud!
Thanks again to Gretchen for letting us use the Farm Cookery School, and to the three judges – Colin Lugg who is head of catering at The Springfields Academy in Calne, Gianni Campanella who owns the Dolcipani Italian Bakery and Restaurant in Devizes, and Laura Mayes who is Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Skills on Wiltshire Council – for doing a great job judging the competition.
Once again a number of people came along to support the contestants, and they were able to taste the remnants of the 3 course meals after the judges had had their share!
Two hours after cooking had begun all the finished meals were out on display, and there was just time to present each of the chefs with a Certificate of Participation before it was time to announce the result.
