Fun at the President’s Evening

capture3Last Saturday, members of the Devizes Rotary Club and their guests donned their glad rags and assembled in the bar of the Ballroom of the Bear Hotel in Devizes. They were getting ready to enjoy a fantastic four course meal, followed by entertainment by  Sound Company, to celebrate the traditional, annual President’s Evening event.

Guests included Councillor Jane Burton (Mayor of Devizes) and her husband Richard, Daniel Swift (Chair of Devizes Round Table) and his wife Sarah, Chris Gillings, (Chair of Devizes Probus) and his wife Ann, Jerry King (Secretary of Devizes Lions) and his wife Sue, Guy Parkinson (Rotary Assistant District Governor) and his wife Gill, as well as a number of club members and their guests.

Thanks go to all the guests for making it such an enjoyable and fun evening, and to Bill for pulling it all together.

A selection of ‘photos from the event are shown below.

Best wishes,

Another new member joins the club, and Past President recognition

New Member

captureIt gives me great pleasure to announce that a new member – Iain Wallace – has been officially enrolled as a full member of the Rotary Club of Devizes. Iain has lived and worked in the town all his life, and now runs the family business – Wallace Events Ltd – which his Great Grandfather first set up. Iain is also a committed and active member of the Federation of Small Businesses organisation, and is currently the Secretary of the Kennet Branch.

Once again I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to Iain, and to wish him a very enjoyable and successful life in Rotary.

Past President

I am also delighted that Alan Truscott, who was club President before me in the year from 1st July 2915 to 31st June 2016, was presented with his Past President medal at the meeting. Congratulations to Alan, and thanks again to him for all the great work he did for the Club and the community at large during his Presidential Year.
